Our Work Packages
Seventeen interconnected work packages bring together scientific leadership, fellow recruitment, advanced training, research implementation and community engagement to strengthen malaria genomic epidemiology capacity.
MAGNETS is organised around the fellowship lifecycle, supported by cross-cutting training, dissemination and scientific coordination. Several activities are divided into two reporting periods (RP1 and RP2), ensuring continuity from recruitment through to research outputs and fellowship completion.
Scientific leadership & project management
Governance, scientific quality, monitoring and compliance.
Project Management and Monitoring
Coordinate project administration, monitor work package progress, maintain consortium communication and oversee reporting and compliance with the Grant Agreement.
Scientific Project Leadership
Provide scientific governance and quality assurance, coordinate consortium bodies, oversee the Data Management Plan and foster strategic partnerships.
Scientific Project Leadership
Continue scientific oversight and cross-consortium coordination, update the Data Management Plan and consolidate the programme's final scientific and fellowship records.
Recruitment & onboarding
From fair selection to a shared foundation for learning.
Fellows Recruitment and Selection
Design and implement a transparent, inclusive, merit-based process to recruit 10 Master's fellows, with attention to gender balance and English–Portuguese linguistic equity.
Fellowship Onboarding and Core Training Preparation
Develop the competency framework, modular curriculum, mentorship resources and training platform, and prepare fellows through orientation activities.
Dissemination & community engagement
Connecting research, policy and the communities MAGNETS serves.
Project-level Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication
Launch the project website, develop the dissemination, exploitation and communication plan, and create an outreach toolkit for consortium-wide community engagement.
Project-level Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication
Coordinate international scientific presentations, consolidate outreach activities, prepare a project-wide open-access manuscript and organise the final dissemination event.
Fellowships implementation
Academic training, mentoring and research across four host institutions.
Eight work packages support fellows across two reporting periods. RP1 focuses on fellowship agreements, onboarding, coursework, foundational training and initial research. RP2 focuses on advanced research, scientific outputs, outreach and completion.
